New Zealand Entry Declaration Guide
New Zealand now uses the NZTD digital declaration. Learn the requirements for smooth entry
Important: Paper Arrival Cards Discontinued
All travelers must complete the digital declaration via NZTD website or APP. You can complete or modify it after landing. Please complete the declaration within 24 hours before your flight departure. Infants and children also need separate declarations, which can be filled by parents/guardians.
Basic Requirements
Before filling out the digital declaration, please understand the following basic information
When to Submit
Submit within 24 hours before flight departure. Too early will be invalid
How to Submit
Visit NZTD website or download NZTD APP, supports multiple languages including Chinese
Save Reference Number
You will receive a reference number via email, used for modifying your declaration
Prepare Beforehand
Passport, flight number, NZ accommodation address, valid email
Declaration Guide
Honest declaration is every traveler's responsibility. When in doubt, declare it
Important Warning
Failure to declare or false declarations may result in fines starting from NZ$400, confiscation of items, or deportation. When in doubt, always select 'YES' to declare!
Items You Must Declare
- 1Medicines
Prescription medicine for over 3 months, medicine not prescribed to you, Chinese herbal medicine containing animal ingredients (e.g., deer antler/cordyceps, require CITES permit)
🚫 Cold medicines containing pseudoephedrine (e.g., some Contac, Panadol products) are prohibited! - 2Alcohol & Tobacco
Spirits over 3 bottles (≤1.125L each), wine/beer over 4.5L; tobacco over 50 cigarettes or 50g tobacco products
- 3Cash & Payment
Over NZ$10,000 (including foreign currency equivalent, travelers cheques, bank drafts), requires additional cash declaration form
- 4Plants & Animals
Seeds, flower tea, wood carvings, fur, bone/horn crafts, cleaned garden tools (ensure no soil residue)
Prohibited Items
The following items are prohibited. Do not bring them - discard before arrival

Travel History
List countries/regions visited in the past 30 days as applicable
Health Status
Select 'NO' if no special circumstances (such as infectious disease symptoms)
Language
Please fill in all location names in English
Visa Type
If entering with a tourist visa, select 'Temporary Entry Visa'
Helpful Tips
- •Take photos of your passport, flight ticket, and hotel confirmation and save them on your phone for easy access
- •No need to print the QR code after completion - customs will auto-read your declaration when scanning your passport
- •If traveling with infants or children, a separate declaration is required for each child
- •If you miss anything or make a mistake, you can complete or modify your declaration at the airport after landing
